3/27/2024 - The Uruks of Isengard

Image
Hey Everyone! Today I am going to be going over the Fighting Uruk-Hai of Isengard. We covered the lightly armoured Scouts previously, this time will be the heavy armoured or immune to pain troops that marched forth to strike down Helm's Deep. March to Helms Deep! Leave none alive! The Uruk-Hai Captains are pretty imposing profiles, coming in at fight 5, strength 5, defense 6, 2 wounds, 2 attacks, courage 4 and 2 might, 1 will, 1 fate. They can buy shields to upgrade to defense 7 and/or arm themselves with strength 4 crossbows, or 2 handed weapons, of the purchaser's choice. At only 60 points, and paying 5 points for each of their upgrades, they can be very cost efficient. They trade off the third might that most of the other named Uruk-Hai (scout) captains have, but gain a higher defense as trade. These are typically only seen in the Assault Upon Helms Deep Legendary Legion, since Isengard's named heroes are stronger in typical open Isengard lists. Their armour is thick, an

3/25/2024 - Adepticon and Hobby Bingo update!

Hey Everyone! The Adepticon Grant Tournament has come and passed. I very happily was in attendance this year, having started playing too close to it in 2022 and not having the funds for 2023. Adepticon is a large convention in Chicago in mid March. This year, the tournament was 6 rounds of 750 points, 2:15 rounds, and using veto by pools. In total there were 85 players in the tournament, with people from all over North America, and even from Europe.  Now, "What did the crazy Dunland player take to this?", you might ask. The answer might shock you, but not Dunland. I took Isengard! Having played my Huscarl style of Dunland at 750 before, I was not too interested in a repeat performance of LVO 2023 where the composition I took with my style did not quite pan out, so I shifted away. Not to say I did not take a nasty amount of Wildmen Hobos though. I have been a bit dis-illusioned with Uruk performance recently, so I decided to just not pay for them. I knew I wanted magic with

3/20/2024 - The Orcs of Isengard

Hello everyone! Today I am going to cover the Orcs of Isengard! They're fresh Snaga is one of the lower tier fortitude heroes of Isengard. He has the typical Orc Captain stats of Move 6, Fight 4/5+, Strength 4, Defense 5, 2 Attacks, 2 Wounds, and 3 Courage, but gets an upgraded third might to have 3 Might, 1 Will, 1 Fate, paying 10 points over a normal captain.. He does not have any option for shield, so is stuck at D5. Similar to the restrictions in the Ugluk's Scouts legion, Snaga can only take Orc  models in his warband. Snaga's only heroic is Heroic Challenge, which sees almost no play in the game. Being a hero of fortitude, this does present more opportunities to call it, however most things will accept the challenge and one shot him in return. His key special rule, Cunning Mind , allows Snaga to not take part in friendly Heroic Actions and still act as normal later in the phase, and even when participating he does not have to remain within a specific range of the He
