4/26/2024 - Lurtz's Scouts

  Hey Everyone! Now that we have covered all the profiles in Isengard, the time has come to start delving into the armies Isengard can field, starting with the Legendary Legion, Lurtz's Scouts. Lurtz's Scouts represents the Uruk-Hai force sent to ambush The Fellowship along the river Anduin, led by Lurtz and his lieutenants, Ugluk and Mauhur. The Legendary Legion can field the following profiles: Lurtz, Ugluk, Mauhur, Uruk-Hai Scout Captains, Uruk-Hai Drummers and Uruk-Hai Scouts. As you'd expect, Lurtz must always be included in a Lurtz's Scouts army, and must always be the leader. For taking this smaller troop roster, you gain 3 benefits: Relentless March : Relentless march upgrades all Scouts to Marauders for free, normally costing 1 point and restricted to Mauhur's warband, upgrading your Scouts to 8" Move Value, as long as you take Mauhur in your army, increases the Move Value of Lurtz, Ugluk, Scout Captains and Drummers to 8" rather than their normal

4/24/2024 - The Battle for Bridgetown

  Hey Everyone! Last weekend I made my way up to Beaverton, Oregon, for their North-West Hobbit League 100 Point event, spanning 5 rounds at 700 points. A ticket to the North-West Hobbit League Masters event was also on the table for the winner of this event, taking place the weekend of Clash on the Coast, Canada's biggest GT, taking placing in October in Vancouver. My list: As you can see, it was pretty similar to my Adepticon list, with the only notable change being that Frida's warband was subbed out for Vrasku and two crossbows. I had to make cuts to get down to 700, and being that this was a non-Veto event, I wanted to be prepared with some ranged and march, so Vrasku fit in perfectly in that role. Since my numbers did drop, I swapped out the second banner from the other list in order to get another Crebain, which was very important as I will explain later. 4/17/2024 - The Birds, Monsters and Siege of Isengard

Hey everyone! So far we have covered almost all of Isengard, but there are a few profiles left, the birds, monsters and siege weaponry of Isengard. Crebain from Dunland! Crebain are one of the most powerful profiles in Isengard's roster. They may only come in at Fight 2, Strength 2 and Defense 3, but they have two Attacks, Courage 3 and a whopping 4 Wounds. Sometimes, weight of dice is all you need, and Strength 2 can kill Defense 6 just as easily as Strength 3, and two dice for the duel are pretty reliable if you manage to pick something off outside banner ranges. Helping you do this is that Crebain have Fly , letting them move 12" as long as they don't start in or end in Woodland terrain, or end in a control zone without charging. They are extremely agile, being on 40mm bases. Crebain also are very difficult to shoot, as their Cloud of Birds  special rule makes it so that Shooting attacks will only hit Crebain on a natural 6. 4/9/2024 - The Dunlending Hordes

Hey Everyone! Last week we covered the Leaders of Dunland, so now we are going to cover the mass hordes of strong, angry men from the hills of Dunland. Burn every village! The base level, fodder unit for Dunland is the Wild Man of Dunland. At only 5 points, these come in at Fight 3, Strength 3, Defense 3, Courage 3, and are armed with either Axe or Sword, with the option to purchase Two-Handed Axes. Wildmen have Hatred (Rohan) , making them exceptionally good at killing the cowardly, oppressive, tyrannical, evil, land-grubbing... ok I am getting carried away. Combining their cost with the pierce special strike, Wildmen can easily take down S6 models for very cheap, trading only 5 points in return. Combining with the Wildman Oath Maker, they get the Isengard  keyword, making them stick around longer in the battle (if they survive that long), and with his 6" fearless bubble, they make very cheap ways to charge big monsters, minimizing the monster's return of value for killing mo

4/3/2024 - The Leaders of Dunland

Hey Everyone! Today we finally get in to my favorite part of Isengard, the Dunlendings! Hail to the Chief Thrydan Wolfsbane is the "leader" of Dunland. He clocks in at 85 points, being able to pay 10 points to mount on his horse. He has the typical Fight 5 and Strength 5 of Isengard heroes, but unlike what his armor would appear to give him, is only Defense 5. He has 2 attacks, 2 wounds, courage 4, and 3 might, 2 will, 2 fate. He comes equipped with a sword and two-handed axe, giving him the ability to 2-hand and pierce for mega damage, which takes us to his special rules. His first rule is Mighty Blow , making wounds he inflicts that are not fated deal 2 wounds instead of 1, making him exceptionally good at killing 2 wound 1 fate heroes. His Lord of Dunland  special rule extends his Stand-Fast! to 12" instead of the usual 6", making him better at keeping his troops around, if he does not run away himself.
