4/1/2025 - Rebranding

Hello Everyone!

I've been a bit quiet for the last few months, and there is a reason for that. As many have seen over on the Middle Earth: Strategy Battle Game Discord (https://discord.gg/MZfUgRtV56), I have become disillusioned with Isengard, and because of that, I have felt no desire to play the game at all. In truth, I have played only a handful of games since the middle of December, and I think all the Isengard armies are terrible. Because of that, I have decided to pivot my focus to Rohan.

Moving forward, the channel name will be updated to: "The Riddermark as told by the 69th Marshal."

The logo has also received an update to the following:

You will see these updates reflected some time this week, when I get around to it.

I have also commissioned a fantastic editor to create a channel intro clip for my YouTube channel! You can check out a sample of their work over at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPmZqsQNzGA. I can't reveal what they've done for me yet, but you will see it in upcoming videos!

As some of you know, I am planning on attending Ardacon this year, and here is my list:

As the 69th Marshal of the Mark, unfortunately, we are not allocated the protection of Royal Guard, and we don't have much funding, so the only true loyal soldiers are my 8 Captains of Rohan following my lead as the 9th Captain, and our 6 Riders of Rohan, plus some guy we found on the side of the road with a big piece of cloth that we painted a horse on to. We ride for wrath, for ruin, and most importantly, a few bucks to get some food and maybe some new boots.

(Please scroll for a bit, I am not sure why, but the site is making me insert a massive white space in this blog post).

APRIL FOOLS

Real Post (if you believe it):

Hello Everyone!

Welcome back to the Dunlending War Cry. It has been a bit. I wanted to give a bit of a life update and update on my gaming over the last few months.

As some who have spoken to me know, in early January, I lost my job. Since then, I have been a bit off in my life, as my job was a big part of my day to day, in getting me to do things. I have been doing a bit of Uber Driving in the meantime, and have lined up a new opportunity that should start very soon, but for the most part I have been doing a bit of resting and focusing on myself. My old job led me to indulge in a bit too much fast food and take out, so I have been focusing on healthier eating, and I've dropped a significant amount of weight in the last few months. I am not sure where I was in early January, but by my worst estimate, I've lost around 35-40 pounds so far. Still more to go, but I feel a lot healthier and energetic already.

On the gaming side, I have been grinding ,hard, to learn the ins and outs of the new edition. I have played 121 games so far this edition, 8 of which were made possible by the leaks in early December, and have played 75 games of Army of the White Hand. For the most part, I have been playing a game a day on average, leveraging that I have more time than usual to accomplish this. You might ask, "why haven't you posted if you could play that much?" and the answer is "I dunno," With the job situation, a lot of my sense of time has been turned off. I wake up randomly during a 6-10 AM window, staying up randomly to an 8-2 AM window, and outside my typical meal of Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup and Saltine Crackers, I have not felt grounded, and because of that, I have also not felt like content I could produce would have the level of detail I would want to put forth. This was made worse by my circumstances resulting in me having to miss out on a couple tournaments I wanted to go to, the Battle for Bridgetown in Oregon, and Adepticon in Milwaukee.

Oddly enough, I woke up on April Fool's day of all days feeling much better than usual, even as I woke up at 4 AM, having gone to bed at 9 PM exhausted from sleeping from 2 AM to 8 AM the last couple days. Maybe my sense of humor has revitalized me.

With all that out of the way, let me focus on the future of the channel.

As some of you may notice, there is a verbal duplicate of this article, posted over on the Dunlending War Cry YouTube channel, along with a written duplicate on my Patreon. As was posted in December, this is my format moving forward. I plan to duplicate everything I do onto the different platforms, and keep an air of openness and accessibility to all content I create, so that the community can read/hear what I have to say in any format (I will start mailing letters if I have to).

In the coming future, I will be getting back into the grind, going over the updated profiles for Isengard, similar to how I covered the previous edition, and then going over the armies and army compositions, and strategies/tactics for match-ups and scenarios. Once I have established the baseline of the faction in this edition, I plan on deep diving into White Hand, how I play it compared to how I was playing last edition's Isengard (hint, it is my army with army bonuses), and further thoughts on how to be successful with it.

Until next time!

-Scott
